Peace of Mind Dog Rescue (POMDR) has officially adopted Max’s Helping Paws life-saving programs, continuing Max’s mission through the newly established Max’s Helping Paws Fund.

Through this fund, Get 'Em to the Vet, Short-Term, and Continued Care – will not only continue, but expand. POMDR will integrate these services to help pets facing serious health crises, offering support for diagnostics, emergency procedures, surgeries, and even long-term chronic care.

The financial cap for veterinary assistance has increased from $500 to up to $2,500 per case, thanks to the Max’s Helping Paws Fund.

Helping Paw Financial Assistance Serving Monterey, Santa Cruz & San Benito counties

Income: You must be able to demonstrate financial need in order to qualify for financial assistance.

We cover: Urgent medical needs that will alleviate an animal's suffering. We cover expenses for dogs and cats.

We do not cover: Routine veterinary care. (We can provide flea treatment when available by pre-arrangement. You must be able to pick it up at our office in Pacific Grove.)

Maximum assistance: $750. We can help with up to $2,750 for major medical emergencies.

Exam and estimate: It is best if your pet has had an exam and you can provide us with an estimate for care needed. In some circumstances, we can cover the cost of the exam.

Annual grants: Our financial assistance is meant to be a safety net during difficult times with a limit of assistance once per year.

Spay/Neuter Requirement: All pets must be spayed or neutered to receive funding. If they are not already spayed or neutered, spay/neuter at the time of treatment or shortly after will be performed.

In cooperation with our Partner Vets, BirchBark provides financial assistance (either a flat amount for initial diagnostics or a percentage of the overall bill, up to 50%, for treatment).
